    This week is Dementia Action Week (20 – 26 May) which encourages everyone to start a conversation about dementia.

    Here in Southampton we are working to become a Dementia Friendly City and there's lots going on in our communities. The Southampton Dementia Action Alliance, led by the Alzheimer’s Society, is a group of originations and individuals who have committed to working together to help people live well with dementia in Southampton.     Did you know that here in Southampton, GP appointments are available throughout the week, into the evening and on weekends?

    Matt Stevens, Lay Member of NHS Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group and Chair of the Primary Medical Care Commissioning Committee, who are the local NHS group who make decisions about GP practices in the city, said: “We know that it can be difficult to know where to go when you are feeling unwell, so want to remind people about the range of support available here in Southampton."
