    If you need medical help or advice over the bank holiday weekend and aren't sure where to go, phone 111. The NHS 111 service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and calls are free from landlines and mobiles. The 111 team can find the right Southampton service for you, including out of hours GP appointments, mental health support and emergency dentists.

    Southampton Urgent Treatment Centre is now open at the Royal South Hants Hospital

    The Southampton Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) is led by highly skilled nurses, who are supported by GP’s and other health professionals, who can offer treatment, advice and information for a range of injuries and illnesses that need urgent medical attention, but are not life-threatening. The waiting times can be considerably less than at the emergency department and the UTC team can also refer or direct you to the most appropriate service for you if you need to be seen elsewhere.

    You don’t need to make an appointment, the UTC is open to all NHS patients and you can also call NHS 111 before visiting to get an appointment at a specific time. Find out more about the service

    Stay well and keep cool this summer

    Most of us welcome the hot and sunny weather but some people are more vulnerable to the heat, such as babies and young children, those aged over 75 and people with existing medical conditions.

    New mental health support for schools in Southampton

    New mental health support teams will be rolled out to a number of schools in Southampton following a successful bid for funding from the local NHS.

    Southampton has been confirmed as one of 57 areas in England which will take part in the scheme.

    Funded by NHS Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group, two new support teams will be put in place to support 16,000 pupils in the city.  Their focus will be on early intervention for mental health and emotional wellbeing issues for children and young people. Find out more.

    Southampton health and care leaders pledge to support carers

    This week Southampton City Council and the local NHS have pledge to work in partnership to continue to identify and support carers in Southampton.

    This coincides with the national Carers Week, which is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
