New charity partner to join Countess Mountbatten House

Countess Mountbatten House, a much valued hospice based at the Moorgreen Hospital site in West End, Southampton, provides expert care for patients at the end of their lives and support for their families across Southampton and the surrounding communities in Hampshire.

The hospice has been diligently supported by the Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity over the past forty years.

From 1 October 2018, a new partnership is forming to run the hospice and increase the fundraising capabilities.

Mountbatten, the charity responsible for running the Mountbatten Hospice and other end of life services on the Isle of Wight, will be partnering with the existing team at the Countess Mountbatten House and charity team.

Poster for the Hands of Love event on Sunday 2 September 11am - 2pm at Guildhall Square SO147DU. The event celebrates 70 years of the NHS and the contribution Black, Asian and minority ethnic people from all around the world have made to the NHS here in Southampton.

Hands of Love – celebrating 70 years of the NHS in Southampton

Join us at Guildhall Square on Sunday 2 September to celebrate 70 years of the NHS and the vital contribution made by Black, Asian and minority ethnic people from all around the world.

Organised by Unity 101 Community Radio, Hands of Love will bring together speakers from across the NHS and the community here in Southampton with music, choirs and a variety of food.

Everyone is welcome to join the event, which starts at 11am and runs until around 2pm.

The NHS 111 service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and calls are free from landlines and mobiles. The 111 team can find the right local service for you, including out of hours GP appointments and emergency dentists.

Southampton health and care heroes reach the final of the NHS70 Parliamentary Awards

Two local health and care heroes will be representing Southampton at the NHS70 Parliamentary Awards at the Palace of Westminster this week, a prestigious award ceremony to mark the NHS’s 70th birthday.

Chris and Steve Beal were chosen as regional champions in the Patient and Public Involvement Award category. They will now vie with other regional winners from across the country for the national award, which will be presented at a special ceremony on Wednesday 4 July – the day before the NHS’s 70th birthday.
