Over 6000 appointments at GP surgeries in Southampton missed every month

City GPs are asking patients to cancel their unwanted appointments. This is after an audit revealed that over 6300 doctor and nurse appointments were missed in Southampton during December 2015.

One of their most significant discoveries was that over 6300 people could see a GP or nurse sooner if people were to cancel their unwanted appointments.

Don’t be caught on the hop – get your repeat prescriptions in before Easter

Have you stocked up on the medicine you need ahead of the bank holiday?

That’s the question being asked by local GPs who are urging people in Southampton to plan ahead for their medicines this bank holiday.

Dr Sue Robinson, local GP and Chair of NHS Southampton City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) said: “Your GP practice needs two working days (48 hours) to process a repeat prescription request, so now is the time to plan ahead and order your medication in good time with practices closed from Friday 25 – Monday 28 March for the Easter break. Be sure to take your prescription to the pharmacy in good time too as some medicines aren’t always in stock and may need to be ordered in.”

Southampton GPs go digital
