Keep warm and well during the cold weather

A graphic of a thermometer with the advice:

Colder weather is on its way to Southampton, so now is the time to find out how to keep well and your home warm during winter.

Cold weather can affect your health. When the temperature drops, some people are at increased risk of heart attack, stroke, flu, pneumonia, falls and injuries, and hypothermia.  Cold weather can also affect people with mental health conditions, such as depression and dementia.

It is also important to look out for neighbours, friends and family who may be vulnerable to the cold and check they have warm food and drinks available and are managing to heat their homes adequately.

You can find lots of advice and helpful information on the NHS Choices website here.
